(16714) Arndt is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 21, 1995 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in the Tautenburg Forest in Thuringia .
The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.
The celestial body was named on March 9, 2001 after the German writer , historian , freedom fighter and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly Ernst Moritz Arndt (1769–1860), who was mainly dedicated to mobilizing against the occupation of Germany by Napoleon and as one of the most important poets of the The era of the Wars of Liberation applies.
