(2100) Ra-Shalom is an asteroid from Aten type . This describes a group of asteroids whose orbits mostly run within the earth's orbit and cross it from within.
Ra-Shalom was discovered by Eleanor Helin at the Palomar Observatory in 1978 . The name is made up of the Egyptian sun god Ra and the Hebrew word for peace; he recalls the Camp David Agreement between Egypt and Israel .
Ra-Shalom moves on an eccentric orbit between 0.47 AU ( perihelion ) and 1.20 AU ( aphelion ) in 277 days around the sun . The orbital eccentricity is 0.44, the orbit is inclined 15.76 ° to the ecliptic .
Its size is estimated at 0.9 to 2.5 km. The albedo is 0.1. The asteroid rotates around its own axis in around 20 hours.
