(2234) Schmadel ( 1977 HD ; 1972 GF 1 ) is an asteroid of the central main belt that was discovered on April 27, 1977 by the German astronomer Hans-Emil Schuster at the Felix Aguilar Observatory ( European Southern Observatory ) in the El Leoncito National Park in the province of San Juan was discovered in Argentina ( IAU code 808).
designation
(2234) Schmadel was named after the German astronomer Lutz D. Schmadel (1942-2016), who worked at the Astronomical Computing Institute of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and was involved in the publication of the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts . The lost asteroids (1206) Numerowia and (1370) Hella were found again through his calculations.
