(2516) Roman ( 1964 VY ; 1964 VG 2 ; 1974 SH ; 1976 GB 6 ) is an approximately four kilometers large asteroid of the inner main belt that was discovered on November 6, 1964 as part of the Indiana Asteroid Program at the Goethe Link Observatory in Brooklyn , Indiana ( IAU code 760). A total of 119 asteroids were discovered by the Indiana Asteroid Program.
designation
(2516) Roman was named after the American astronomer Nancy Roman (1925-2018), who was instrumental in the planning for the Hubble space telescope .
