(2570) Porphyro is an asteroid of the main belt , which on August 6, 1980 by the US American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid was named after Porphyro , the main male character from the poem The Eve of St. Agnes by John Keats , written in 1819 and published in 1820 .
