(29189) Udinsk is an asteroid of the main belt , the October 16, 1990 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code of 809) European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the capital of the Russian republic of Buryatia Ulan-Ude , located at the confluence of the rivers Uda and Selenga , which was founded in 1666 as a wintering station by Cossacks.
