(294664) Trakai is an asteroid of the outer main belt , which was discovered by the Lithuanian astronomer Kazimieras Černis and the Latvian astronomer Ilgmārs Eglītis on January 3, 2008 at the Baldones astrofizikas observatorija of the Astronomical Institute of the University of Latvia in Riekstukalns near Baldone ( IAU code 069) has been. The asteroid was discovered while observing 45 positions of 14 asteroids.
(294664) Trakai was named after the Lithuanian city of Trakai on February 7, 2012 .
