(3353) Jarvis is a asteroid of the main belt , which on 20 December 1981 by Edward LG Bowell was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the American astronaut Gregory B. Jarvis , who died as a payload expert on the Challenger flight STS-51-L on January 28, 1986 . The space shuttle was torn apart shortly after takeoff by the explosion of its liquid fuel tank.
