(3586) Vasnetsov is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 26, 1978 by the Ukrainian - Soviet astronomer Lyudmyla Shuravlowa at the branch of the Crimean Observatory ( IAU code 095) in Nautschnyj .
The asteroid was named after the Russian brothers Viktor Michailowitsch Wasnezow (1848-1926) and Apollinari Michailowitsch Wasnezow (1856-1933), who made a name for themselves in the field of history painting and were members of the Peredwischniki .
