(3623) Chaplin is an asteroid of the main belt , which on October 4, 1981 by the Ukrainian-Soviet astronomer Lyudmila Georgievna Karatschkina at the branch Nautschnyj the Crimean Observatory ( IAU code 095) in Nautschnyj was discovered.
The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.
The asteroid was named after the British comedian , actor , director , screenwriter , editor , composer and film producer Charles Chaplin (1889–1977), who was one of the most influential comedians of the 20th century and in film history.
