(37279) Hukvaldy is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on December 22, 2000 by the Czech astronomers Petr Pravec and Peter Kušnirák at the Ondřejov observatory ( IAU code 557) on the Manda mountain in Ondřejov .

The asteroid was named on March 18, 2003 after Hukvaldy Castle from the 13th century, which was located southeast of the village of Hukvaldy on a hill above the Ondřejnice valley in the Czech Republic and is now one of the largest castle ruins in Moravia .
