(39415) Janeausten is an asteroid of the main outer belt , which was discovered on March 26, 1971 by the Dutch astronomer couple Cornelis Johannes van Houten and Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld . The discovery was made during the first Trojan survey in 1971, during which Tom Gehrels surveyed field plates recorded at the University of Leiden with the 120 cm Oschin Schmidt telescope of the Palomar observatory .
(39415) Janeausten was named on February 19, 2006 after the British writer Jane Austen (1775-1817), whose novel Pride and Prejudice was filmed several times.
