(4497) Taguchi is a main belt asteroid discovered on January 4, 1989 by Japanese astronomers Kin Endate and Kazurō Watanabe at the Kitami Observatory ( IAU code 400).

The asteroid was named after Takeo Taguchi , a Japanese polisher for telescope mirrors.
