Jonas Casimir von Eulenburg

Jonas Casimir von Eulenburg (born January 6, 1614 in Johannisburg ; † May 11, 1667 in Schönberg ) was a major general in Brandenburg as well as a secret war councilor and district administrator. He was also treasurer and governor of Brandenburg in the Duchy of Prussia and heir to Schönberg and Prassen .

Life

He studied in the Netherlands and Paris. On October 1, 1636, he became chamberlain in Brandenburg and in 1640 chamberlain . Elector Friedrich Wilhelm appointed him in 1644 as governor of Balga , on April 28, 1645 as governor of Insterburg , and in 1654 as colonel and governor of Schaaken . When the war broke out from 1655-1660 , Eulenburg set up a Wybranzen regiment , which consisted of 1,000 men in six companies. In 1656 the elector sent him to Moscow to discuss an alliance with Tsarist Russia . In 1657 he became governor of Brandenburg and state director. In 1660 he took over the command of the Prussian militias, the Wybranzen, as a regional colonel . On August 25, 1663, the elector appointed him major general and secret war council .

family

His parents were Botho Albrecht von Eulenburg (1570-1621) and his wife Elisabeth von Polenz (born June 26, 1590; † September 8, 1649). He was married to Helene Dorothea von Brandt (born January 26, 1624 - April 16, 1692) and had several children, including:
