(4521) Akimov is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on March 29, 1979 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Russian set designer and theater director Nikolai Pavlovich Akimow (1901–1968).
