(4771) Hayashi is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 7 September 1989 by the Japanese astronomer Masayuki Yanai and Kazuro Watanabe at the observatory of Kitami ( IAU code was discovered 400).

It was named in honor of Kousuke Hayashi , who worked at the Sapporo City Astronomical Observatory in Sapporo for 20 years and has been chairman of the Japan Planetarium Research Association since 1990. One of his greatest achievements was the invention of a mobile observatory .
