(4820) Fay is an asteroid of the main belt , which from the September 15, 1985 American US astronomer Carolyn Shoemaker at Palomar Observatory ( IAU code in 675) California was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the American pilot and journalist Fay Gillis Wells (1908-2002), who was a founding member of the Ninety Nines pilots' association .
