(6084) Bascom is an asteroid of the main belt , the American US from February 12, 1985 astronomer Carolyn Shoemaker and Eugene Shoemaker at Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) was discovered.
It was named after the American geologist Florence Bascom (1862–1945), who became the second woman in the USA to have a Ph.D. in geology and from 1895 taught geology at Bryn Mawr Women's College for many years .
