(7470) Jabberwock is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 2 May 1991 by Japanese astronomers Takeshi Urata at Nihondaira Observatory ( IAU code 385) near the town of Shimizu in Shizuoka Prefecture was discovered.
The asteroid is part of the Vesta family , a large group of asteroids named after (4) Vesta , the second largest asteroid and third largest celestial body in the main belt.
(7470) Jabberwock was named after the mystical creature Jabberwock , the main subject of the classic nonsense poem Jabberwocky from the story Alice Behind the Mirrors by British writer Lewis Carroll .
