Edouard Darviot
Édouard Darviot (born April 19, 1859 in Beaune , † August 21, 1921 in Bussy-le-Grand ) was a French portrait painter.
Darviot studied painting at the Académie Julian in Paris with Tony Robert-Fleury , Hector Hanoteau and William Bouguereau .
He was friends with the painter Félix-Jules Naigeon, who invited him to Algeria in 1883, where Darviot created a series of orientalist pictures.
Darviot continued his studies from February 1, 1887 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Ludwig von Löfftz .
He settled in Dijon and worked as a portrait painter. On January 24, 1898, he married Louise Chevignard, who gave birth to two daughters, Cécile (* 1899) and Henriette (* 1901).
Among other things, he painted the portrait of Pope Pius X and was therefore released from the excommunication pronounced against him for a duel .
