The Élorn ( Breton Elorn ) is a coastal river in the French department of Finistère , in the Brittany region .

Course of the river

The river has its source in the Monts-d'Arrée mountains, about 2 kilometers south of Commana , and flows into the Atlantic Ocean after 56 kilometers in the Bay of Brest . In its upper reaches, the river flows through the Lac du Drennec reservoir , which is important for Brest's water supply. The mouth of the funnel , which is strongly influenced by the tides , begins in Landerneau , where the bridge of Rohan prevents further navigation upstream.

history

This watercourse is the cradle of the legend of the Dragon of the Elorn.
