The Óbuda University ( Hungarian : Óbudai Egyetem , Latin : Universitas Budensis ) is a state technical university in Hungary . Its headquarters and main campus are in the city of Budapest .

The forerunner of today's university was a university founded in 1410. In 2000 it was founded as Budapest Tech (Hungarian: Budapesti Műszaki Főiskola ) with the merger of the three polytechnic universities Bánki Donát Műszaki Főiskola , Kandó Kálmán Műszaki Főiskola and Könnyűipari Főiskola . Since 2010 the university has been operating as Óbuda University , named after a district of Budapest.
