The University of Kaposvár ( Hungarian : Kaposvári Egyetem ) is a state university in the Hungarian city of Kaposvár with around 5,000 students (2016). The former Kaposvar Health Center and Feed Research Institute in Iregszemcse are part of the university.

history

The University of Kaposvár was founded on January 1, 2000 by merging existing research institutions and has been divided into four faculties since 2004:

  • Faculty of Animal Sciences
  • Faculty of Economics
  • Faculty of Art and
  • Faculty of Education

Before the university merged, the university's forerunner institutions had worked together successfully in various areas of research and education.

With its human and infrastructure resources, the feed research institute found an ideal partner in the Faculty of Animal Breeding and complemented its scientific background in forage plants and other crops.

As a result of the institutional reorganization, the Faculty of Animal Husbandry was renamed the Faculty of Animal Sciences to more accurately express the subjects of education, research, expansion and other services, while Csokonai Vitéz Mihály Teachers' Training College was renamed to become Csokonai Vitéz Mihály Faculty of Education become.

The plan for institutional reorganization drawn up by the University of Kaposvár received an "A" (excellent) grade from the Ministry of Education in 2000. This classification led to government-funded investment projects and successful staff development that created the conditions for increased student numbers and the management of new faculties. A new educational building complex, a multifunctional student center, a new central library and a new, modern student residence for 347 students were completed. The total area of the new buildings is 14,502 m².

Economics began at the university with the establishment of the Faculty of Economics. By further developing the resources that the "Economics in Agricultural Engineering" program has been running for many years from the Faculty of Animal Sciences, a BSc in finance and accounting has been launched in cooperation with the Corvinus University of Budapest , as well as an educational spectrum with other programs in the field of economics.

The creation of the Faculty of Arts added an entirely new area of education to the university profile.

The restructuring of the university in line with the Bologna process was also a major challenge for Kaposvár University. This objective was successfully completed, the university received the appropriate permits to convert all existing degrees to BSc degrees in all faculties.
