The ecological platform is a political association within the party Die Linke . The platform was founded in the summer of 1994 within what was then PDS .

Positions

The Ecological Platform sees its task as anchoring the ecological turnaround within the Left Party . It wants to show how the way for an ecological policy can be paved. A complete solar energy transition and a radical ecological tax reform that is socially balanced are seen as core elements for this. She speaks out against green genetic engineering and has taken many initiatives within the left.

The ecological platform wants to think about new ways of life and look for ways in which society can get along with a fraction of today's material consumption. Due to the current way of production and living, according to the platform, people are endangering the entire sphere of life and are increasingly likely to burden the next generations with “great misery and infirmity ”. The question arises of how to deal with the already inevitable part of climate change and how society can be adapted to changing natural conditions.

The left-wing ecologists advocate just cultural and economic cooperation between the countries of the Tricont and the rich industrialized countries and reject a policy that only keeps an eye on their own social concerns. At least half of the left-wing ecologists also have non-party members. The Ecological Platform tried to influence almost all of the Left Party's programmatic documents. The environmental statements in the election manifesto for the 2005 Bundestag election largely corresponded to their suggestions. The ecological platform strives for dialogue and exchange with environmental associations.
