The Marxist Forum (MF) is a so-called “further amalgamation” of the party Die Linke , which is assigned to the left wing of the party and is based on classical Marxism in terms of its theoretical orientation .

history

The MF was founded on June 6, 1995 in what was then PDS in Berlin. Speakers of the MF are or were Uwe Hiksch , Klaus Höpcke and Kurt Pätzold .

Goal and task

The MF has the goal of making a contribution to the theoretical profiling of the politics of the party Die Linke. Marxists from different left currents of the party Die Linke work in the MF. Many of its members are involved in the Communist Platform (KPF) , the Anti-Capitalist Left (AKL) , the Gera Dialogue or the Socialist Left (SL) .

“We see it as our task to continue to insist on an in-depth Marxist analysis of this society and to criticize the party without interfering in details. We want to preserve Marxist thinking and spread it again as best we can. "

- Uwe-Jens Heuer : Interview with the newspaper Junge Welt

“The GDR is to be defended as a legitimate, in many respects successful attempt to shape a new society under highly complicated conditions as an alternative to the capitalist profit and class society: a society without exploitation , without the super-rich, without unemployment, wolf morality, educational privileges and lust for war . (…) We stand against the defamation of the GDR as an injustice state, against the long-standing linguistic manipulation with expressions like 'former' GDR instead of GDR, 'market economy' instead of capitalism. "

Classification by courts and the protection of the constitution

The Higher Administrative Court of Münster (2009) and the Administrative Court of Cologne classified the MF as unconstitutional . The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution described the MF as "orthodox-communist" and classified it as left-wing extremist . According to the 2006 report on the Protection of the Constitution, the nationwide Berlin-based Marxist forum comprised around 60 people. According to the 2014 report on the Protection of the Constitution, the Marxist Forum today has 400 members, which is consistent with the MF's own information. In addition, the “Marxist Forum Saxony” was an independent working group in what was then the PDS regional association of Saxony.
