İbrahim Akın (born June 4, 1984 in Izmir ) is a Turkish football player .

Career

society

Akın played for his home club Altay İzmir in his youth . At the end of the 2001/02 season he came to the professional team and played two games. He rose to the Süper Lig with Altay Izmir . From the 2002/03 season he was a regular, but rose again after only one season with Altay. Akın played a very good season in 2003/04. The attacking midfielder managed to score 18 goals in 30 games. This confirmed his talent that many experts saw in him.

The clubs from the top half of the table immediately showed interest in the young midfielder. İbrahim Akın chose Beşiktaş Istanbul . Under the leadership of Vicente del Bosque , Rıza Çalımbay and Jean Tigana İbrahim Akın was part of the regular squad. During this time he won the Turkish soccer cup twice. In Ertuğrul Sağlam Akın was only a supplementary player.

Therefore, he decided to change clubs during the winter break of the 2007/08 season. His new club was the newcomer Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor . There he became a regular player straight away and was henceforth an important player in midfield. He achieved a respectable success with his club in the 2010/11 season. Istanbul BB made it into the Turkish Cup final that season. He scored a goal with a penalty and set up the second goal. Nevertheless, the team lost the final against Beşiktaş Istanbul on penalties. His contract with Istanbul BB was terminated with immediate effect at the end of the 2010/11 season. The reason for the club's decision was that Akın's name was implicated in the manipulation scandal. Akın is accused of selling the 2010/11 cup final for $ 150,000 and a racehorse.

Between 14 July 2011 and 12 December 2011 İbrahim Akın was in custody because he is accused of being involved in the match-fixing scandal 2011th

In the summer of 2012 he moved to the first division club Gaziantepspor . Since he had received a game ban because of match fixing, he could not be used here for a long time. It was only in October 2013 that he made his debut for Gaziantepspor in a cup game.

After falling short of expectations in two seasons at Gaziantepspor, he was given up to league rivals Sivasspor during the 2014/15 winter break .

In the summer of 2016, after twelve years, he returned to his first club, Altay Izmir, which is now in the four-class TFF 1. Lig , and signed a one-year contract here.

National team

Akın made his international debut for the Turkish national team on October 8, 2005 in a 2-1 win against Germany . But he only came into play in the 83rd minute for Nihat Kahveci and was allowed to play for ten minutes. The last time Akın was called to the squad for the friendly against the Netherlands in November 2010. So far he has played four games for Turkey without scoring.
