İrina Petrovna Netreba ( Ukrainian Ірина Петрівна Нетреба / Iryna Petriwna Netreba, Russian Ирина Петровна Нетреба / Irina Petrovna Netreba; born April 26, 1991 ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler who started her career in the Ukraine . In 2014 she became vice European champion in the weight class up to 58 kg body weight.

Career

Irina Netreba was born in Ukraine and competed in international championships for this country until 2009. She has been competing for Azerbaijan since 2012 and is now part of the Ataspor Baku sports club . She is trained there by Ruslan Sawlochow and Yagub Mahmadow. She is a student and has been wrestling since 2004. In 2010 and 2011 she was banned from international competitions due to the change of nationality.

As a junior she was already very successful and won a total of five medals at junior world and European championships from 2007 to 2009. In 2008 she became Junior European Champion in Daugavpils in the age group "Cadets" (up to the age of 17) in the weight class up to 65 kg. In the same year she was also Junior European Champion in the age group "Juniors" (up to the age of 20) in the weight class up to 67 kg in Kosice.

In 2008 she started for the Ukraine at a women's world championship. She came in Tokyo in the weight class up to 63 kg after a victory over Geetika Jachar, India and a defeat against Justine Bouchard from Canada in 9th place.

In 2012, after moving to Azerbaijan, she got the chance to qualify in Sofia in the weight class up to 63 kg for participation in the Olympic Games in London. She came in Sofia after a defeat against Aline Focken from Germany, which resulted in her elimination from this tournament, but only on the 13th place and thus missed the qualification. It was also not used at the European Championships and the World Championships that year.

That was the case in 2013. However, Irina Netreba lost her first fight against Tatiana Lavrentschuk from Ukraine at the European Championships in Tbilisi in the weight class up to 59 kg , which meant she was eliminated and ended up in 9th place. She did not fare much better at this year's World Championships in Budapest, where she competed in the weight class up to 63 kg. She came there to a victory over Katherine Vidiaux Lopez from Cuba, but lost her next fight against Jackeline Rentería Castillo from Colombia, with which she was eliminated and finished in 12th place.

At the 2014 European Championships in Vantaa / Finland, she won her first medal in the senior category in the new weight class up to 58 kg. She beat Viktoria Bobewa, Bulgaria and Anastassia Huchok from Belarus and reached the final, in which she was defeated by the Russian Valerija Scholobowa (Koblowa).
