The Šárecký potok , also Šárka or Litovicko-Šárecký potok , on the upper reaches Litovický potok (German Scharka or Scharkabach , also Lidowitzer Bach ) is a left tributary of the Vltava in the Czech Republic .

The Litovický potok rises west of Chýně on the Prague plateau ( Pražská plošina ). Its source is less than a kilometer and a half southeast of the Hájek ( Waldl ) monastery . On its upper course to the east, the stream is bridged by the Praha – Most railway line on the outskirts of Chýně and then flows north past Chýně, where it is dammed in the Bašta and Strahovský ponds. Then the Litovický potok takes a north-easterly direction. At Břve it is dammed in the pond Břevský rybník, at Sobín in Rybník Kala and at Litovice in Litovický rybník; the three ponds, including the surrounding wetlands, are protected as a natural monument PP Hostivické rybníky .
The stream then flows through Hostivice in an easterly direction and is crossed by the Praha-Smíchov-Hostivice railway on the eastern edge of the city . Then the Litovický potok between Peterkův Mlýn and Patourka will be dammed in the Strnad retention basin. Below this, the stream reaches the urban area of Prague , where the Praha-Řepy expressway triangle between the Prague Ring and expressway 6 is on its right bank . Between Řepy and Ruzyně , the Litovický potok near Jiviny is dammed in the Jiviny retention basin. The creek then takes a north-easterly direction and flows north of the White Mountain ( Bílá hora , 381 m nm) and the Stern pleasure palace ( Letohrádek Hvězda ) past Manovka and about a kilometer from the Ruzyně remand prison underground through the center of Ruzyně. The stream comes to the surface again at the Stern game reserve and flows along the edge of the natural monument PP Obora Hvězda . Then the Litovický potok flows between Liboc and Dolní Liboc and feeds the Libocký rybník pond. At Veleslavín and Vokovice, the Litovický potok turns west in a bend in the river and flows into the Šárka Lysolaje Nature Park, where it is dammed in the Džbán dam.
The brook leaves the Džbán reservoir as Šárecký potok and forms the deep rocky Šárka valley . North of Dolní Liboc, the stream on the Šárka hill changes direction in a large loop to the northeast. The rocky slopes along the Šárecký potok were placed under protection on this section as the PR Divoká Šárka ( Wild Sharka ) nature reserve . Passing Dívčí Skok, Čertův Mlýn, Želivka and Nebušice , the stream at Vizerka turns east again and flows past the natural monument of the same name, PP Vizerka . The slope near Sídliště Červený Vrch opposite Jenerálka at the confluence of the Krutecký potok is protected as a natural monument PP Jenerálka . The lower reaches of the Šárecký potok runs between Lysolaje and Baba past Dubový Mlýn, Zlatnice (formerly the Schipkapaß inn ), Kaplanka, Dejvice , Hanspaulka, Horní Šárka, Heřmanův Dvůr, Mrázovka, Žitná, Emilká, Dolíabažulka, Dolníabažulka, and Žitnaba, Purabažulka to the northeast. There the stream leaves the Šárka Lysolaje Nature Park and is bridged by the Prague – Děčín railway line. After 22 kilometers, the Šárecký potok flows into the Vltava near Podbaba . Its mouth is located between the ferry from Podbaba to Podhoří and the Vltava Island.
