Škoda ForCity
Škoda ForCity is a family of low-floor trams built by Škoda Transportation . This also includes the Artic trams developed and manufactured in Finland by ŠkodaTranstech , which are now known as ForCity Smart.
Škoda ForCity Alfa (15 T)

The city of Prague has ordered 250 of these three-part one-way vehicles with a 100% low-floor area . The first car had been in test operation with passengers since October 6, 2010 in Prague. All vehicles of this type are to be delivered to Prague by 2018. The 15 T run on four bogies, one at each end and two Jakobs bogies under the joints.
In May 2008, the Riga City Transport Authority ordered 20 sets with an option for a further 32 vehicles. The otherwise structurally identical cars were given bogies for a track width of 1524 millimeters and painted blue and white. The first prototype was delivered in June 2009. In November 2012, a total of 26 vehicles were ready for use, 6 of them as a four-part version.
Škoda ForCity Classic (26T / 28T)

This variant is available as a three, five or seven-part one-way or two-way vehicle. It only has non-rotating, two-axle running gear, which is arranged under the outer vehicle parts and, in the five- and seven-part versions, also under short central parts. The vehicle parts with chassis are each connected by a free-floating middle section (sedan chair). The vehicles are 100% low-floor.
Five-part bi-directional cars were built for the cities of Miskolc (26T) in Hungary and Konya (28T) in Turkey. Both types are regular. A total of 72 vehicles of this type are in use in Konya, 12 of which are equipped for operation without overhead lines.
On June 14, 2016, CVAG signed a contract with Škoda for the construction of 14 low-floor trams of the ForCity Classic type, according to which a test vehicle from a delivery for Prague had already been tested in 2012 . The first railcar (TW 912) arrived in Chemnitz on the night of November 29th to 30th, 2018, the remaining vehicles are to be delivered by the end of 2019.
14 vehicles were also ordered for Eskisehir (Turkey). These are meter-gauge in the one-way version and are also equipped with batteries for operation without overhead lines.
In October 2017, Škoda received an order for the delivery of 13 ForCity Classic cars to Sofia .
Škoda ForCity Plus (29T / 30T)
This variant combines rotating and rigid trolleys. There are rotating chassis under the outer vehicle parts. This is why these vehicle parts, which are available in two lengths, are longer than the ForCity Classic variant. The short vehicle parts of the three and five-part variants include rigid chassis. The outer vehicle parts crash onto the short vehicle parts with chassis. In the five-part version there is a free-floating middle part (sedan chair) in the middle. Both unidirectional and bidirectional vehicles are available in various gauges. The low-floor proportion is 80 - 100%.
So far, only five-part tram cars have been ordered by the Bratislava tram in Slovakia in two versions. The low-floor share is 88% for the one-way vehicle 29T and 92% for the two-way vehicle 30T. 30 pieces of each of the two types were procured. These types are so far only meter-tracked.
Škoda ForCity Smart Artic
This variant was developed by the Finnish manufacturer Transtech , which has been part of the Škoda Transportation group since August 4, 2015 . It only has rotating trolleys and is completely low-floor. One- to five-part vehicles are offered, whereby the individual vehicle parts can be designed in two different lengths.
The first vehicles were delivered as three-part articulated wagons with four bogies for the Finnish capital Helsinki . Two prototypes have been in test use since 2014, followed by the series delivery of 38 vehicles and a further 20 from an option until 2018. Outwardly, they have similarities to the Bombardier Flexity Berlin tram . In June 2018 the transport company HKL ordered a further 10 vehicles.
In order to present this type of tram outside of Finland as well, car 402 was exhibited in autumn 2014 at the Innotrans trade fair in Berlin. For this purpose, the green / yellow color scheme was pasted over with white and brushed gold foils. Following this exhibition, extensive test drives were carried out with this car on the Würzburg tram network in October 2014 . The steep stretch in the Heuchelhof district was also used for demonstration drives without passengers . However, since the car did not have the required automatic speed monitoring, it was only used on the flatter lines 1 and 4 in scheduled service.
The two prototypes 401 and 402 should be used on tram line 88 of the Schöneicher-Rüdersdorfer tram (SRS) from summer 2018 . After initial delays, car 402 was delivered to Schöneiche on August 21, 2018 and initially leased to SRS until the end of December 2018 for testing and determining the need for adjustments. At the end of October, SRS acquired the two vehicles ahead of schedule after the tests had been successful. Car 401 is expected to arrive in Schöneiche in January 2019.
Additional vehicles were ordered in Finland in December 2016 for the Helsinki- Espoo interurban tram and for the Tampere tram in October 2017 .
Škoda ForCity Smart
In June 2018, the German Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr ordered 80 trams in lengths of 30, 40 and 60 meters of the modified ForCity Smart type. The first trains are to be delivered in 2021.
The transport company DPO (Dopravní Podnik Ostrava) from Ostrava has chosen Škoda Transportation for the delivery of 40 low-floor trams. The purchase price is 1.9 billion crowns (76 million euros). The first vehicles should go into operation by autumn 2020 at the latest. The trams have space for around 200 passengers. Their length is 26.5 meters. They are intended to replace the previous T3 trams, which are mostly used in pairs.
In October 2018, the transport company of the city of Pilsen ordered up to 22 vehicles (including one option) of the ForCity Smart type. The tripartite, bidirectional trams are 100% low-floor vehicles and have five double doors on both sides.
Stadtwerke Bonn ordered 26 vehicles of the type in December 2019 for delivery from 2022. There is an option for a further 12 vehicles. The 100% low-floor vehicles are 30 meters long.
