(10606) Crocco is an asteroid of the main belt discovered on November 3, 1996 by the Italian astronomers Valter Giuliani and Francesco Manca at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( IAU code 587) in Sormano .
The asteroid was named on March 28, 2002 after the Italian aviation and rocket pioneer Gaetano Arturo Crocco (1877–1968), who constructed airships and wind tunnels during the First World War . In 1951 he founded the Italian Missile Company and was jointly responsible for Italy launching its own satellite into space in 1960 .
