(190) Ismene is a main outer belt asteroid discovered by CHF Peters at the Hamilton College Observatory in Clinton on September 22, 1878 .

Ismene is part of the Hilda family. This is a group of asteroids that orbit the Sun in a 3: 2 orbital resonance with the planet Jupiter .

The heavenly body was named after Ismene , the daughter of Oedipus and Iocaste from Greek mythology .
