(22278) Protitch is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 2 September 1983 by the Belgian astronomer Henri DEBEHOGNE at La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on December 30, 2001 after the Yugoslav astronomer and three-time director of the Belgrade observatory Milorad B. Protić (1911-2001), who was known for his work in the fields of celestial mechanics and the fundamentals of astronomy.
