(2288) Karolinum ( 1979 UZ ; 1937 GL ; 1942 HJ ; 1952 HN 1 ; 1952 KJ ; 1972 LD ) is an asteroid of the outer main belt , which was discovered on October 19, 1979 by the Slovak (then Czechoslovak ) astronomer Ladislav Brožek at the Kle Observ Observatory was discovered near Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic ( IAU code 046).
designation
(2288) Karolinum was named after the Karolinum , the main building of the Charles University in Prague , founded in 1348, which is still in use . The main belt asteroid (4339) Almamater was named after Charles University.
