(26197) Bormio is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on March 31, 1997 by the Italian astronomers Piero Sicoli and Francesco Manca at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( IAU code 587) in Sormano .

The asteroid was named after the municipality of Bormio in the northern Italian province of Sondrio ( Lombardy region ).
