(2816) Pien is an asteroid of the main belt , the American US on 22 September 1982 by the astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( Observatories Code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the Belgian weather announcer Armand Pien (1920–2003), who presented the weather for 37 years and was popular for his entertaining lecture.
