(2817) Perec is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 17 October 1982 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the French writer and filmmaker Georges Perec (1936–1982), who was a member of the Oulipo group and is counted among the most important representatives of French literature after the Second World War .
