(295565) Hannover is an asteroid of the middle asteroid belt , which is located between the planets Mars and Jupiter . It was discovered on September 27, 2008 by the amateur astronomer Erwin Schwab in collaboration with Stefan Karge at the Taunus Observatory . Using its brightness, Schwab determined the diameter of the asteroid to be around 1.5 kilometers. It orbits the sun in about 4.15 years.
The asteroid was named after the city of Hanover , the birthplace of Wilhelm Herschel , who discovered the planet Uranus .
