(3683) Baumann is a main belt asteroid. It was discovered on June 23, 1987 by Werner Landgraf in the La Silla Observatory ( Chile ) and named after the amateur astronomer and founder of the Astronomical Working Group Mainz eV , Paul Baumann , and his wife Helene. These were good friends of the discoverer's father for decades.
