(38250) Tartois is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 31, 1999 by the French astronomer René Roy at the observatory in Blauvac ( IAU code 627) in the French department of Vaucluse .
The asteroid belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .
(38250) Tartois was named on January 6, 2003 after the French amateur astronomer Lucien Tartois (* 1924), who worked for the Société astronomique de France for many years .
