(4435) Holt is a main belt asteroid crossing Mars orbit , discovered on January 13, 1983 by Carolyn Jean Spellmann Shoemaker from the Palomar Observatory .
The asteroid was named after the American astronomer and plantetologist Henry E. Holt .
