(4746) Doi is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 9 October 1989 by the Japanese astronomer Atsushi Takahashi and Kazuo Watanabe at Kitami Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 400).

The asteroid is named after the Japanese astronaut Takao Doi , who took part in the space shuttle missions STS-87 and STS-123 as JAXA's payload specialist .
