(4816) Connelly is an asteroid of the main belt , which on August 3, 1981 by the US American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the American mathematician Robert Connelly (* 1942), who has been a professor at Cornell University since 1969 and who provided important foundations for astrometry and the imaging of asteroids using radar with his work .
