(5050) Doctor Watson is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 14 September 1983 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the figure of Dr. Named John H. Watson , the friend and constant companion of Sherlock Holmes in the novels of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle .
