(5077) Favaloro is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 17 June 1974 by astronomers of the Felix Aguilar Observatory at the Astronomical Leoncito device ( IAU code 829) in El Leoncito National Park was discovered in Argentina.

On November 9, 2006, the asteroid was named after the Argentine heart surgeon René Favaloro (1923–2000), who performed the first successful bypass operation on the heart in May 1967 .
