(5324) Lyapunov is an asteroid of the Cupid type , which was discovered on September 22, 1987 by the Russian-Ukrainian astronomer Lyudmila Georgievna Karachkina at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj .
The asteroid is named after the Russian mathematician and physicist Alexander Michailowitsch Lyapunow (1857–1918).
