(5421) Ulanova is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 14, 1982 by the Ukrainian astronomers Lyudmyla Shuravlowa and Lyudmila Georgievna Karachkina at the branch of the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( observatory code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Russian prima ballerina Galina Sergejewna Ulanowa (1910-1998), who belonged to the Kirov Ballet ensemble from 1928 to 1944 and moved to the Moscow Bolshoi Ballet in 1944 , where she was awarded the title of Prima Ballerina Assoluta in recognition of her achievements was awarded.
