(6063) Jason is a near-Earth asteroid of the Apollo type , which was discovered on May 27, 1984 by the American astronomers Carolyn Jean Spellmann Shoemaker and Eugene Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory .
The celestial body is named after Jason , the leader of the Argonauts from Greek mythology .
