(6606) Makino is an asteroid of the main belt , of October 16, 1990 by the Japanese astronomers Tsutomu Seki at Geisei Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 372).
The asteroid was named on December 24, 1996 after the Japanese botanist Makino Tomitarō (1862-1957), who first described over 1000 species in his six-volume work Makino's Book of Botany, published in 1936.
