(9364) Clusius is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 23 April 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was on April 2, 1999 after the Dutch scholar, physician and botanist Carolus Clusius named (1526-1609), who in 1584 with nomenclator Stirpium Pannonicus the first Austrian botany written and made by his ministry Vienna into a center for floriculture . He was also known by the Latin name Carolus Clusius .
