(9376) Thionville is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 20 July 1993 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the town of Thionville on the Moselle , which is located in the middle of an area dominated by heavy industry , especially the mining of iron ore.
